Default CB antenna on 10M?

I have an old mag mount RS CB antenna with a 24" (approx.) telescopic
whip. It is fitted with an integral audio cable (as the feedline)
terminating in (what else?) a male RCA jack that plugs into the CB's
antenna jack. The CB is rated at 5 watts FM.

The whip can be shortened quite a bit. Is there any reason it
wouldn't resonate on 10M?

Audio cable ain't RG-8/U, but is it enough to handle 30 watts FM on
10M?

Ken,
Most 11 meter antennas will work on 10 meters with just
a little retuning, so it should work. The 'RCA' plug will
be a problem so either change it or use an adaptor.

The audio cable is a problem.

Why not just buy a 10 meter antenna?

Yeah, and the 24 inch whip is not going to be a ball of fire either.

If it is 24" long, it has a coil somewhere. That coil is designed to
handle 5 watts AM. It might handle 30 watts SSB but probably not 30
watts FM.

On such a short antenna, the whole thing may be helically wound. I once
bought an 18 inch long 11m antenna for RC use. It consisted of wire wound on
a fiberglass rod, covered with a plastic sleeve

Is there such a thing as a telescoping helical antenna?

Actually, I have some discontinued big megawatt (!!) "truck mirror
mount" CB whips I bought from RS on clearance last year for $1.03
(down from over $50). These can be snipped for 10M, but they are not
as convenient as a mag mount.
