Mobile antenna for 1296 MHz?
I'm looking for a commercial mobile antenna (vertical) for 1296 MHz.
Would prefer something with a little gain over a 1/4 wave, but I don't want anything taller than my 1/4 wave for 2 meters and I don't need anything that is multiband. Something like a base loaded 5/8 wave or even 5/8 over 5/8 would be fine. Everything I've seen on the commercial market is too tall for my application and has too much gain, or is too tall because it is multiband. Thanks in advance and 73, -- * Do NOT use Reply * Reply to K3TD via arrl dot net Tad, K3TD |

We have been using Larsen 1296 antennas for many years, but they do not
presently appear in their commercial catalog. Contact the HRO store in Mountain View and see if anyone remembers the actual model number or better yet, if they still have any in stock. They were NMO mount, and were either 5/8 over 1/2 or 1/2 over 1/2 wave, about 12" tall overall, 4 or 5 turn coil in the middle. -- W5VPQ Crazy George Remove N O and S P A M imbedded in return address "tad danley" wrote in message news I'm looking for a commercial mobile antenna (vertical) for 1296 MHz. Hopefully there are still some available. Thanks and 73, -- * Do NOT use Reply * Reply to K3TD via arrl dot net Tad, K3TD |

Tad:
The only record I have been able to turn up is a slip of paper referring to the "1290 series 1.2 GHz antenna" It was likely nomenclatured NMO-1290, with some additional letter suffix. And the HRO is in Sunnyvale. I never remember where the city limits are. -- Crazy George Remove N O and S P A M imbedded in return address |
