Radio Shack PRO-106 Help

hello,
Am looking at the new Christmas gift trying to figure out how to
program conventional frequencies in this machine. No trunked systems
up here in rural PA. Would I have done better getting a Uniden BC 146
T ? Advice on programming is requested please.
