Is Radio shack planning on putting out a mobile or base digital scanner?
Their handheld scanner is a little disapointing in that it leaves out the
UHF Aero band. I have also looked at the ARO box that will hook up to a 10.7
If output on some radios but I think the little box sells for 369.95.

Yes, it will be known as the PRO-2096
It is basically a repackaged PRO-96 as to features and controls
The UHF AERO band IS available on the PRO-96
I listen to 260.90 all the time on mine.
Is is unlocked via software

Stay away from the Rat Shack. The Pro-96 has a firmware bug concerning the
reception of some analog talkgroups.
Rat Shack had the nerve to tell me that a fix might be possible based on MY
PROXIMITY to the affected system.

What a joke. I returned mine and bought a Uniden, which has mil air and no
bugs.

The newest shipping version has the bug fixed. It does Mil Air just fine. It
is a lot easier to program and use than the Uniden, and the digital audio
and audio in general is FAR superior.

I have seen a group on Yahoo for the new radio shack scanner. pro-2096, They
have some pictures and a pre release manual. I have only taken a quick look
but It looks like they basically pot the pro-96 in a box. I do not see any
mention of RS-232 port but I was in a hurry. I know understand they planed a
base unit as well.

I read that its been type accepted but no mention of when it will be in the
store.
