Default $300 - $400 Shortwave radio

Lurk mode off

What would you folks recommend in the $300-$400 range for a nice tabletop
shortwave radio?

Satellite 800?
Used Sony 2010 (I know, not a table top, per se)

I have a 100 ft random wire antenna.

Thanks.

- Do you need it right away?
what are you using now..?

The 100 foot antenna will make whatever you have ( or buy)
much better..
-
I have a nice, set here;
Icom R-75.
- Hear All SORTS of stuff;
use headphones, so the sound is better;
- If you can, I'd wait & see what comes out this year.

- Else get a copy of " Passport to Worldband radio" & look at the
reviews within.,.

In that price range, I'd go for a used R8. Lots of bang for the buck.

I have a DX-398. And I have the '03 Passport. Just wondered what the group
recommended. Thanks. Guess I should get the '04 Passport. DJ

Well with ebay, if you wait a while, another one will come along that
will close for less.

For that kind of bucks, you can find a wide selection of very decent
used hf ham transceivers with general coverage receive, that would run
circles around some of the dedicated shortwave receivers.
