Remind me when you go do Dayton.

That makes it even more impressive, you did it while you were so busy.
That's using your dome for more than a hat rack. :)

You do know the dates right? (for Dayton)
May 20,21, & 22 http://www.hamvention.org/

That gives you plenty time to find an excuse to leave your better half
for two or three days. (hope she's still there when you return) :D

Leaving my beter half for a couple days, isn't hard. I do it for work. It's
having someone cover my job, that is the bitch.

Almighty then. I can offer you a place to stay in my camper if you want
to stay, but I'd like a little bit of an advance notice. I like my trip
planned in advance. It should be fun, I'll have campfire wood and a
barbecue, we'll run over there in my truck, or the shuttle bus.

Give it some thought and let me know by May 1.

Where are you staying at? I'm going with a group that will be staying at the
university dorms. Splitting the dorm room rent several ways is costing each
of us $28 each for two nights. We get a kitchen, stove, etc. with only two
people per room.

Dunno yet, it will be one of the three campgrounds that are convenient
to there. I posted a thread for campground advice but no one replied yet.
I'll call them soon to get the low-down on what they have to offer, and
their location to the track (er fest)

Wow !!!!!

I am hesitant ti post it here. I will not be on the air for a couple months. If
I post it, some asshole forger or criminal that resides on this NG might use it
on the air. And I might not even know about it. If you know what I mean.

Great job !

Honestly, how the hell do you get 18,000 plus lookups? I don't buy
it's a reult of posting in rec.radio.cb.

Fugly felon n8wwm has 4000..of course he's ashamed of his call (rightly so)
so he doen't include it in his posts.

KC8QJP has 548 now.

Dogie is getting his lower lip scraped right about now. He's been
reprimanded. It's amazing what technology can do. More fun in the future
with his little friend.

Yup, that's how I found the EBay post and then went to
Ebay at the time and got an email addy saying AOL.

Thanks. I got the second degree just for fun, I like computers as a hobby
too, so what the heck, and work paid for the classes. I'm fixin (getting
quotes for hardware) to put together an AMD FX-55 system right now to dual
boot Win XP Pro and Linux (Fedora Core 3).

http://fedora.redhat.com/

I'm running it on an old PII 333 MHz system with 196MB, CD-ROM, NIC card
etc., got the whole thing including a 15" color monitor for $80 at a local
Hamfest. The system is connected to my LAN right now so I can experiment
with it. I can use Gnome's remote desktop (XDMCP) to run the graphical
desktop remotely. I can sit and watch the news on the TV while playing with
the system in the other room, all wirelessly on a laptop.

The reason why the long period was due to the fact I was only taking one
class at a time. You wouldn't believe how much time those programming
classes can suck up doing the programming projects they want. The math
classes were just as bad. There is no way to just "skate" through the work.
The only way to learn the material is to do the work, and some of the prof's
worked the students like dogs too.

I just find it hard to understand how a guy in an apartment with a

looked up 18 thousand times.

no, but in a previous post in this thread, a nomiker used prior in this

So now you're a mind reader? Think of some new material. You've gotten too
boring to bother with even insulting for the rise everybody gets out of you
when you respond. Oh, how may broadband ISP's service the Medina area, other
than yours, I just have to ask since I'm wasting my time typing this.

Too many idiots, jammers, channel control freaks, amp users who think they
need several hundred watts to talk to another idiot a couple of miles down
the street, kids learning how to expand their 4 letter word vocabulary on
the air etc.

> You find six meter that much

Better class of people. Anyway I'm more interested in microwave stuff. Spent
a couple of hundred bucks at the Ohio Maumee swap the other weekend getting
a Narda SMA directional coupler (model 4203-10 2-18GHz), a Omni Spectra
directional coupler (p/n 2020-6605-10 1.0-2.0GHz), K&L SMA transfer relays
(MS-28-SMA-TTL), a WJ SMA mixer (M1J), and a used M/A-Com 8.134 GHz brick
oscillator (p/n PLX12-01). I'm going to try sooner or later to retune the
brick oscillator to use on the Ham 10 GHz band. I already have an FT-817
multimode multiband QRP rig to use as the IF radio. The directional couplers
are for use with the HP-432A microwave power meter I have for SWR
measurements. The last thing I'm looking for is a cheap slotted line, coving
the frequency range I'm interested in, which I can use to make impedance
measurements. That's what was used before the rise of the $50K network
analyzers. A spectrum analyzer would be nice too, but that can wait.

The only problem you mention with which I agree is the last concerning
local amp use.
The rest of the dilemmas you mention are self-created by not exercising
your freedom of choice, beginning with the channel selector.

You feel kids learn profanity from the cb?
As opposed to the words they learn on TV and in school, on the street

and in the school yard?

I don't agree with such practiced elitism, but understand your position
perfectly, as many, many hammies take the same stance toward nocode
operators and view them as appliance operators and feel the better class
of people involved in hammie radio does not begin until one surpasses
nocode status.

There are interesting happenings WAY down low on the spectrum among the
experimental bands. I'm still getting good dx contacts here and there.
California was in my receive again overl weekend several times. Weather
was absolutely miserable, but the skip was pretty good. VHF activity
occupied most of my time, though.

They learn it from the adults. I've had more that one person tell me
personally they don't turn on the CB if they have kids in the car. Now
that's a really sad comment coming from a CBer. Then the kids repeat what
they learn without any regard to whom they are talking to on the air.

You damned sure used to.

Why did you quit?

>Too many idiots, jammers, channel control

>freaks, amp users who think they need several

>of miles down the street,

The only problem you mention with which I agree is the last concerning
local amp use.
The rest of the dilemmas you mention are self-created by not exercising
your freedom of choice, beginning with the channel selector.

>Channel 1 to 23, didn't matter, same old crap.

>kids learning how to expand their 4 letter word
>vocabulary on the air etc.

You feel kids learn profanity from the cb? As opposed to the words they
learn on TV and in school, on the street and elsewhere?
Damn,,,what word can one learn on cb that hasn't been over-used on tv
and in the school yard?

>They learn it from the adults.

Actually, they learn it from other kids first, and if they do learn it
from adults, it's usually their parents. Now, try aagin and answer the
question.

You find six meter that much
more entertaining?

>Better class of people.

I don't agree with such practiced elitism, but understand your position
perfectly, as many, many hammies take the same stance toward nocode
operators and view them as appliance operators and feel the better class
of people involved in hammie radio does not begin until one surpasses
nocode status.

>I didn't ask for your opinion.

You most certianly did by virtue of posting your opinion in a newsgroup
such as this. Not comprehending such is how usenet works is your deficit
concerning communication techniques.

>Don't like it then post to another news group.

You're the one bitching and crying about opinions.

You might get away with that tone with your kids.
It doesn't work with me.

All you want to do is start an argument because you're bored to death. I'm
not biting.

Which is why you not only went out of your way to repond to an old post
of mine, but became instantly enraged and manifested your incompetence
with off-topic personal remarks when your ursine-like behavior was
illustrated.

Both are cowards. They both needlessly attack cbers via their socks and
make threats. Lelnad -knows- he is messed up and doesn't suffer from
denial, as he freely admits his anger and hatred with cbers. Hall, otoh,
is a pathological liar who foams at the snout on cue.
