I have a cheap magnet mount with a stainless whip. The whip is only
about 18" long and I was thinking of getting a much bigger one (Around
3 feet or more)

I cant seem to find anything, basically all I need is a piece of
stainless rod. But cnat find it anywhere.

Also, the reason id like a new one is that SWR is a little to high on
channel one but down to 1.0 on channel 40

Sounds like a 2 meter antenna to me... What about welding rod? Isn't
that available in 3 ft lengths? It won't matter (much) if it
corrodes...

I looked at lowes at plain steel rod, but it isnt "springy" like the
stainless antenna is, if it hits something it will bend and then just
stay like that.

Getting a whip that is significantly longer will probably not work. You
most likely have a loading coil in the base of that antenna that has
been designed to operate with the length whip that came with it.

Hmm... ok what about a junk yard - an older car antenna or even the
newer ones that are composite (fibre glass maybe) with a wire wrapped
around it! That way you can make the antenna any length, put shrink
wrap tubing over it and there ya have it...

On more thought... If you get a composite antenna, you can even wind a
coil at the bottom or middle then shrink wrap it! I'm not sure how
those newer antennas are made but if all they are are shrink wrapped
wire, you've got it made in the shade!

You can probably find a stanless steel replacment "stinger" at a truck stop
that you could then cut to the required length.
