unused Collins equipment

It would appear that in the next couple of months. I will be put over the
sale and redistribution of some very nice Collins equipment. A KWS1
transmitter and a 51S1 receiver among other things.

They belonged to a silent key and I will be selling off the equipment for a
fair, realistic price as the sone of the silent key requested that I try to
find the equipment homes that value the equipment for what it is rather
than its monetary value.

The problem is that although the equipment has...

I could have sworn I just saw a chart recently on a website

that showed year of manufacture from the Series No.

Of course it was one of those nights I was surfing around

and didnt bookmark the page. and now I cant find it again.

Anyone know of a link that displays that info?

Thank you

Hot rodding boat anchors

So, this thread got me thinking:

and reminded me of:

http://www.wa2ise.com/radios/12ba7.html

What other tricks are out there for hot rodding tube radios? It seems that
AGC can be a common obstacle to overcome with these radios, but I suspect
that may be tunable/has been tuned by people in the past. Any other cool
combinations anyone wants to post?

"The Digital 500" transceiver from Robyn

I wonder if any of these ever actually sold.... Robyn of course made CB
radios in the late 60s and into the 70s. But in the September 1971 issue
of CQ Magazine, they advertised "The Digital 500" for a mere $895 (around
$5300 in todays dollars)

Obviously they built a prototype - for creating the ad photo. Might have
just been an empty box too...

But I wonder if any were sold. I cannot find a single reference anywhere
to this.

Anyone have any background on "The Digital 500"...

For those of you interested in WWII USN radio and radar electronics the
following website has downloadable copies of a WWII USN magazine on that
subject:

And they have various downloadable manuals here as well:

Clever way to use HC49/U in place of HC6/U?

Posted: 07 Jun 2017 09:48 AM PDT
https://forums.qrz.com/index.php?thr...-hc6-u.569549/

The title about says it all - Im looking for whether theres a clever way to
use an HC49/U in place of an HC6/U crystal case.

The application (Splisbury SBX-11) has plug-in sockets for HC6/U, and a
metal grounding cage which goes over the xtal packs with spring fingers
which reach down and ground each case.

"Easiest" would be if there exists some sort of xtal plug in adaptor, which
the 49/U plugs into and then in turn into the 6/U socket. I dont know if
such a thing exists, though?

I...
