Heating in 4-1/2 turn inductor by amdx
Several years ago while making inductors for tuning a class E amplifier we end up with a 4-1/2 turn inductor. The inductor used a 3F3 potcore, gapped I think, but it has been awhile. The inductor was driven hard but below saturation. The problem; the 1/2 turn got HOT. Four turns or five turns...

The reason we have Gravity? by fitz[_2_]
The reason we have Gravity? A correct theory of gravity will show us these four (4) things: 1. It will show us why gravity also acts like acceleration (principle of equvalence). 2. It will show us the actual cause of gravity. 3. It will show us why gravitational mass and inertial mass...

IF Transformers by Howard James[_2_]
I'm about to embark on a "vintage" valve (tube) receiver but have a question (probably more questions later!!!) about the IF transformers. Years ago I was able to purchase the transformers for 455 KHz but the ones I want are for 9 MHz. I think I'll have to wind them. I don't have any 10.7 MHz...

Frequency synthesizer for Ocean Boy 400 by uksimon
Would anyone happen to know what frequency synthesizer and PLL IC the Grundig Ocean boy 400 uses? I want to change the tuning step on SW to 1 kHz as the 5kHz step is a bit coarse.

CB "Swing"? (proper AM modulation) by Chris
I will probably get some flames from this but here it goes. I have been into CB radio for a number of years but don't agree with most of what I hear. That's just one of the reasons I'm looking to amateur radio. One of the things I often hear in CB circles is that one should turn a 4 watt AM...

HP54100A gift by Kenneth Scharf
I was given a used HP54100A scope. It seems to work, but I'm still trying to figure out how to use it. Seems to be able to display and measure frequency output of my grid dip meter up to 200MHz, I think this unit is good to 300-500MHz? Anybody ever use one of these before? Also I only have...

MiniCircuits DBM --- SBL-1-8 by JC Morrice
Hi all As titled. I have just got one out of my stock of parts and have no data. It was bought 15 odd years ago and, sadly, any data with it seems to have gone with the wind. There appears to be no online reference or data for the item in the SBL-1-X series, so no doubt it's obsolete. I am...
