Default Mobile Antenna mounts

Anyone have pics of their mobile antenna mounting system. Just bought a
Monkey made and I have a Ford Explorer 2001. I am going to build a
mount that spans my roof rack and I'd like to hear from others who have
done similar stuff.

Thanks,
Norm

Get a big, heavy duty mount, and drill a hole!

You may need to add a reinforcing plate if that antenna has a lot
of wind load and the metal is thin. Maybe you can drill through
some support added to the roof. My seven foot Firestik is mounted
to my metal bumper using a Francis heavy duty stud, model M-102.

I've had them stay using the Radio Shack stud, but they don't sell
them anymore. The Firestik dome mounts suck! Had 2 separate on me.

Thanks Scott. Hey I'm over here in Easton, where abouts in Bmore are
you from? I'll have to give a shout out to you when I'm over that way.
Starting 1-17 I'll be over in Columbia everyday. I start a new Job.

I'm usually on 147.030. There are so many high powered splattering
radios here, CB is useless and all the locals don't turn it on anymore.
I tried to check in to the sideband net Tuesdays at 7:30PM. (36USB, please
try to make it next week) I could barely hear net control. I did better
joining a net in Chestertown on 147.375! When I get my General next year,
I'll be sending daily interference complaints to the uncle if these assholes
splatter on my 2950 at 28 MHz! All radio users are the same type of people
when you get down to it. We sit behind a mike talking to strangers.
However, I do believe in SHARING the available bandwidth and allowing
others to use it as well. I don't care if someone runs an amp. I
just want them to use it properly. /soapbox

CB is a very laid back atmosphere and I miss being able to use it.

CB is as good as ever in Southern NJ. There are more people here, then in 1983.
