Default Interchanging Kenwood TM741 and TM742 Control Heads??

Does anyone know if the control heads from the Kenwood TM741 and TM742
are completely interchangeable? I have a TM741 radio and control head
and another TM742 control head. Since the 742 head "comes apart" into 2
separate units with the proper interconnecting cable, it would make a
new moble installation much easier. Thanks for reading this post.
