* PLEASE NOTE: The report "could" contain "Pirate/SLIM" operations or
more likely a "BUSTED CALLSIGN". As always, you never know - "Work
First Worry Later" (WFWL).

4U1U, UNITED NATIONS HQ (Correction to OPDX.703). Mustapha, DL1BDF,
apologizes for a QSL mistake in his last communication. QSL their 4U1UN
operation "ONLY" via HB9BOU (not DL1BDF as mentioned last week). Their
activity will take place between May 12-15th. As the German team travels
and operates mobile from NY to Dayton, QSL only QSOs with W#/DK0FI/m
through the DARC Bureau.

60 METERS. Start looking for club stations in Norway to be active on
60 meters as of 2200z, March 31st until December 31st, 2007.

A5, BHUTAN. Stig, 9N7JO (LA7JO and HS0ZGD), will be active as A52JO from
April 4-12th. Activity will be SSB and CW on all bands outside his working

ANTARCTICA NEWS...............
NEW WAP. Following the activity of FT5XO, the "Worldwide Antarctic
Program" found it necessary to give "Port Jeanne d'ARC" station a new
WAP reference number. It is WAP FRA-05.

Mirny Base (WAP RUS-07). Mike, RW1AI, is now the radio operator of Mirny
Base as R1ANT for this season instead of his previous plans to operate
from Progress Base (WAP RUS-11) as R1ANP. However, it is very likely that
Mike will participate in the supply convoy from Mirny to Vostok Base in
October 2005 to January 2006 via Pionierskaya, Vostok I and Komsomolskaya
Bases. Let's keep our fingers crossed that he will be able to activate
these extremely rare Antarctic bases. QSL via RW1AI.

WAP SOFTWARE 1.0. The WAP Staff is pleased to announce the WAP Software
(ver 1.0) which is the best solution to manage your Antarctic Bases
(WADA/WACA). The program was made by Carlo, IK6CAC, one of the best
Ham Programers. Please try it and get your free download now at:
http://www.ddxc.net/wap --or-- http://www.ddxc.net

The WAP Antarctic Bulletin written by Max/IK1GPG and Gianni/I1HYW is now

on 30/20/17/15 meters mainly on CW, with some activity on RTTY and PSK.
QSL via DF9GR, by the Bureau is OK.

CY0, SABLE ISLAND. A DXpedition is tentatively scheduled to last 7 days
in July 2005 (July 27th-August 3rd). Operators Joe/W8GEX, Wayne/K8LEE and
Phil/W9IXX will be active on all bands 160-6 meters, CW, SSB PSK and RTTY.
They plan to be active in the IOTA Contest. Callsign will be CY0AA and

operation. Visit their Web page at: http://www.wb8xx/sable
The team is still look for funding.

DAYTON DX DINNER BANQUET (Reminder!). Jay, K4ZLE, reminds everyone the
Dayton HamVention® is fast approaching. If you have not ordered your
ticket for the 20th annual SWODXA DX Dinner to be held in conjunction
with the HamVention®, you need to do so very soon. Tickets are on a first
come, first served basis and seating is limited. The dinner will be Friday
evening, May 20th, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, located in Dayton City
Center. This is the same venue as in years past. Tickets are 32.00 USD
per meal, payable in U.S. funds to SWODXA, and may be ordered from Jay
Slough, K4ZLE, at his CBA. SASE would be appreciated. They will attempt
to honor group seating requests when tickets are ordered together. The
program has not been finalized yet; however, they expect to have a program
to match the quality of their past programs. Further information may be
obtained from Jay at: k4zle at arrl dot net

DXCC NEWS. Bill Moore, NC1L, ARRL DXCC Manager, announced the following

6O0X - Somalia, from November 18, 2004, to November 26, 2004
TT8AMO - Chad, current operation effective March 9, 2005

Correction: TT8M was shown as approved starting of March 14, 2005.
The correct start date should be March 9, 2005.

DXCC CARD CHECKING (Visalia International DX Convention). DXCC QSL card
checking at the 2005 Visalia International DX Convention will take place
on Saturday, April 16th from 2-4 PM in the Plaza room. All DXCC type cards
can be checked including deleted entities, QSLs over 10 years old and 160
meter cards. For further information, contact Gary, KI6T at:

E5A-E5Z, COOK ISLANDS (Cook Islands DXCC Status Change!). From the ARRL
Web page, the issuance of a callsign prefix block for Cook the Islands
has made them a DXCC political entity. "It has come to our attention that
the International Telecommunication Union Table of International Callsign
Series now contains an entry for the Cook Islands," said ARRL Membership
Services Manager Wayne Mills, N7NG. "New Zealand has been issued the E5A-E5Z
callsign prefix block for the exclusive use of the Cook Islands. As a
result, the Cooks become a political entity for DXCC purposes." Mills says
the impact on the DXCC List will be minimal, however. "In reviewing the
distances, it appears that the first 'separation' from the South Cooks
likely will be Palmerston Island, which is just over 350 km northwest of
Raratonga," he explained. "The remainder of what has been known as the
North Cooks is not sufficiently distant from Palmerston to become an
additional DXCC entity." Mills says the main effect of the change will
be for Palmerston to count for North Cooks instead of South Cooks. The
change also may clarify a situation with the North Cooks. "Since the
addition of the Manihiki Islands (North Cooks) in January 1959 was not
based on a specific distance, Palmerston has counted as South Cooks," he
said. "DXCC Rule 5a comes into play now, keeping both North and South Cooks
on the list, but moving Palmerston to the North Cooks because it is more
than 350 km from the South islands and becomes the first separation." Under
the circumstances, Mills said, it might now be appropriate to rename the
entity "Palmerston and the North Cooks." For more updates/details, please
read the ARRL announcement at:
http://www.arrl.org

EA8, CANARY ISLANDS. Operators YL2KL, YL1ZF, YL2LY and ES1AJ will be
active as EA8AH during the CQ WW WPX CW Contest (May 28-29th) as a
Multi-2 entry. QSL via YL2KL.

FT5XO QRT. The FT5XO Microlite Penguins DXpedition to Kerguelen Island
reportedly went QRT around 0200z on March 31st.

HB0, LIECHTENSTEIN. Ed, HA5BWW, and group of HA operators will be active
from here as HB0/homecall, May 14-20th. Activity will be on 160-10 meters,
including the WARC bands, mostly CW with some SSB. Look for HB0/HA5KHC
on 144 MHz. QSL via their home callsigns (Bureau is OK).

IOTA NEWS....................
AF-NEW. (Update) Acording to Afif, 7X2RO, activity from Sanja Islands
will not include 160 meters operation due to poor propagation.
Operations will be from May 1-5th. Reports indicate the callsign
will be 7V2SI.

OC-220. The operators who activated OC-251 (September 2002), OC-261
(April 2003) and OC-228 (April 2004), are now planning to
activate OC-220, South Australia West group, St. Peter Island,
Nuyts Archipelago the second weekend in April, commencing
early Thursday, April 7th and concluding Monday at 2100z,
April 11th. This will be a special event commemorating the
350th anniversary of the death of Pieter Nuyts, the Dutch East
India Company man and sometime explorer, who died in 1655.
St. Peter Island and Nuyts Archipelago, which is located off
the coast from the seaport, Ceduna/Thevenard, was named after
Pieter Nuyts in 1627 whilst exploring the southern ocean area
of Australia, now known as the Great Australian Bight. St.
Peter Island is part of a closely protected Conservation Park
and also part of a greater Ecological Restoration of Endangered
Species Program by South Australia Parks and Wildlife. A permit
has been obtained for 4 operators to land and operate for a
limited period. Operating dates/times are dependant on weather
conditions which can be unpredictable at anytime of the year.
Expected operators are Peter/VK3QI, Keith/VK3FT, Jack/VK3WWW
and Max/VK3WT. Activity will be on the usual IOTA frequencies,
both CW and SSB. Emphasis will be on 30/40m CW and 20/17/15m
SSB. Long Path to Europe which is around 0500-0800z will also
be emphasized. OC-220 has only been activated once before in
March 1997, by Mal (VK6LC) as VK5ISL, for a total of 2200 QSOs,
making it a relatively rare group. CW QSOs will be available
and special arrangements put in place to maximize contacts
with African and South American stations who have an entirely
polar path through the auroral zones to contend with, both long
and short paths. A special commemorative callsign has been
applied for, and they are particularly interested in having
contacts with as many Dutch stations as possible. QSL details
are as follows: via VK3QI Direct (any callbook) or via VK3 QSL
Bureau. Any questions about the proposed operation can be
E-mailed to: Peter Forbes, VK3QI -

JW, SVALBARD. Remember to look for Francois, F8DVD, to be active from
the town of Longyearbyen as JW/F8DVD, April 4-11th. Activity will be
on all bands, mainly SSB. QSL either via the French REF Bureau or direct.

OZ200, DENMARK (Special Activity/Event Update). Rene, OZ1LQH, informs OPDX
that the special callsign OZ5HCA will not be used during the celebration
of "Hans Christian Andersen" birthday, but the callsign OZ200HCA has been
issued to be used between April 1-30th. The QSOs with OZ200HCA will, of
course, count for the H.C. Andersen award. For more details, visit the
Web page at:
http://www.oz3fyn.dk/diplom-hcaGB.html
Rene thinks this is the first time ever that an OZ callsign has had more
than one number in the prefix.

P4, ARUBA. John, W2GD, will be active as P40W during the CQ WW DX SSB
Contest (October 29-30th) as a Single-Op/All-Band entry. QSL via N2MM.
Look for activity prior to the contest on 160m and the WARC bands.

VU4 QSLS. The VU4 QSLs are now being received. However, if you have
not sent for your QSL, Charles, K4VUD, wants to remind everyone: DO NOT
SEND CASH TO NIAR IN HYDRABAD. Charles states, "Yes, I know it is legal
for NIAR to receive U.S. dollars, but why risk the money getting into
someone else's hands on the way to NIAR? THERE IS AN EASY WAY TO
DONATE.... Read NIAR's web site for instructions to donate via DERA in
Colorado (DERA even takes credit cards). THEN, in your QSL request to
