Default Technical question for receiving TV signals by a loop Antenna

My friend and I were trying to adjust the loop Antenna and watch TV on the
computer. But the signal is really bad. I just wonder if there are any tips
of receiving better signals.

Also, we "discovered" a weird situation -- when we touch the ring with the
hand, the signal becomes clearer, without changing the orientation of the
ring! I just wonder if this is due to some grounding or something.

Answers on either the tips or the physical explanation of the
hand-touching-effect would be appreciated.

Thanks!
