Default Question for Roy Lewallen

Ron, W4TQT wrote:
"Since the voltage and current are 90 degrees out of phase, the stored
power is purely reactive but could become real diissipated power if any
resistance is reconnected to the line."

Ron specified a "half wave lossless line" with complete reflection at
each end.

Forward power into Ro creates a current in-phase with the voltage. Ro
rigorously enforces it. An open or a short at the load end of the line
creates a complete reflection in which the volts and amps are
180-degrees out-of-phase. The line again rigorously enforces it.

The only 90-degree phase angle is in the standing wave pattern.

According to some posters, a source only puts out forward power minus
reflected power, by definition. 103W - 3W = 100W

Which posters, Cecil?

Which posters, Cecil?

Whoever wrote: "The PA output power is 103-3=100 W."

And please don't tell me there would be reflections inside the tank
circuit... if you do, I'll take the tank circuit away too, and connect a
wrong load impedance (the output load, now transformed through the tank)
directly to the anodes!

Print doesn`t convey sarcasm nearly so well as does tone of voice. Cecil
knows as well as anybody that a standing wave is manifestation of the
stagnant phase between incident and reflected waves persisting on a long
transmission line.

What Cecil said is true. No magic moment arrives when anything goes
"poof!" at the end of a transistion.

The insane usually insist that they are sane. But, they seldom vouch for
each other, hence my testimony.

Hi Richard,

The record of your quotation, above, is incomplete.
"Nothing magic, like the invention of talking movies, happens at the instant
stead-state is achieved."

"Nothing magic, like exploding suns, happens at the instant
stead-state is achieved."

"Nothing magic, like the kidnapping of the Lindberg baby, happens at the instant
stead-state is achieved."

"Nothing magic, like signing of the Declaration of Independance, happens at the instant
stead-state is achieved."

As with any babbling of inmates: so much to say, so little said in the
first place....

The Marquis de Sade put more effort into his writing and got more
participation out of the inhabitants of Charenton in his production of
the "Persecution and Assassination of Jean-Paul Marat."
