Motorola power supply
Does anybody know what the output DC current is on a Motorola HPN3000A base
station power supply? DC voltage measures 15 VDC. The pass transistors are two M9639 transistors in TO-3 case. I have not been able to find a data sheet on these guys. Anybody have any info on them? Thanks. AL |

Does anybody know what the output DC current is on a Motorola HPN3000A base station power supply? DC voltage measures 15 VDC. I'm not sure what the current capability is, but I can tell you that Motorola DC supplies typically run a bit high for voltage (though 15 seems higher than normal, even for Mother 'M.' How accurate is your meter?) The pass transistors are two M9639 transistors in TO-3 case. I have not been able to find a data sheet on these guys. Anybody have any info on them? Try cross-referencing from the number 48-869639. I just did so, and found that the equivalent is a 2N3772. Further digging on that number reveals that it is a 20A 60V NPN power device (no surprise). Specs are at this link: http://www.onsemi.com/site/products/...2N3772,00.html Assuming that the pass devices are in parallel, I would assume that you have at least a 20A capable supply. You can, however, call 1800-422-4210, follow the prompts to get to Parts Identification, give them the HPN number, and ask what the current rating is. They should be able to tell you, and could also probably provide the part number for a manual for the unit (which you can then order with a credit card). Happy hunting. -- Dr. Anton T. AL Here are a number of useful spec sheets http://www.kbt-dc-supplies.com/specs.php Standard Linear supply, you should be able to find an adjustment to drop the voltage to 13.8 VDC (under load) 2N3771 and 2N3055 are used extensively (pass transistors), I have used the 2N3772 in supplies as replacement. I do not remember what the Motorola used for a voltage regulator w9gb |

Another, even higher rated transistor is a 2N5886. |

The output voltage regulator is a 14 volt fixed zener. A 13 volt zener will give 14.2 volts out if it is the same essential supply as the MITREK. Transformer is part # 25D82863.
