Best, reasonably priced SWR meter??

One meter gives two possible answers: right or wrong
Two meters gives four possible answers:; right/right, right/wrong, wrong/right,
wrong/wrong.

Three meters gives eight possible answers: .... etc.

How much difference are you seeing?

Are you sure you have no common mode rf on the coax?

IS the IC736 putting out sufficient power to properly activate the internal meter?

etc.

I am getting such wild differences between the meter on my IC736 and that on
the MFJ969, that I feel that I need a 3d meter to tell me which of the others
to believe.

would appreciate suggestions on something for HF 100W and less than $100.

thanks

Great place to start: use your meter to measure
SWR normally, and then REVERSE it! Antenna to rig
connector, Rig to Antenna output connector, and
then calabrate it BACKWARDS ( full scale in the
SWR position, and then MEASURE your SWR , in the
Calibrate position! If you dont get the SAME
reading of SWR, then the sampleing lines arn't
ballenced! This shows up most often, at VHF!
Give it a try- meter should read the same BOTH
WAYS! If not try adjusting the sample loop
toward, or away from the coax section, until they
read the SAME on SWR ! Diodes and the diode
sensitivity DO make a DIFFERENCE!
