The ones that I have had in the past have always worked very well; even the
home brew one!!!

A scalpel blade around the edge and then a twisting motion on the base has
got then off for me.

I can only assume that you purchased a cheap Far East import / clone part.

Consumer amateur doesn't know that there is difference -- PCTEL, like many
mfg. is slowly eliminating antennas below 440 MHz -- in favor of 800 MHz and
higher.

Exactly right. The A.S. patent was strong and forced "would be imitators" to
come up with 1/4 wave designs that gave the on-glass concept a bad name.

I used a wood chisel as a prying tool. Just slip it under the edge, and pry
a little bit. As it starts to come loose, just keep sliding it further
under the mount.

Tried WD-40 ?? It isn't just a lubricant,
but also does wonders as a SOLVENT ! great for
removeing glues, and other cruds stuck on items
(not just metals)! may have to get a small area
loosened, then spray it with WD-40, and let it
set. Give it a couple hours, peal and then
reapply to any areas still sticking! Also works
on Bumper Stickers, and sticky decals on former
