The FCC has decided. Let's talk about ANTENNAS and ANTENNA THEORY now.
Now that the decision is final, can we please stop crossposting into
this group?

There are going to be a lot of hams that need advice on HF antennas now
that all Technician operators will have automatic general-level CW
privileges on 80m, 40m, 15m, and 10m. Can we clear out the group so
that they actually think that maybe they can get antenna advice here?

Every ham needs an antenna. I think we can all agree on that.

Welcome to HF everyone!

Actually, it's CW/DATA on 10m and phone.

I think it's clever. Techs get giant swaths of CW only privileges
compared to what tech plus before last Friday got.

One year ago, in Italy the CW exams were completely abolished and our VHF
licensees (more of less equivalent to the US Technicians) automatically got the
same HF operating priviledges as the full-licence hams.

At that time, there were people predicting disastrous invasions of the HF band
by non-experienced hams.

In reality nothing special happened, as just a small percentage of the VHF
licensees migrated to the HF band causing no problem at all.

On the other hand this could have been easily predicted:

- a person really interested in operating HF would hardly give up just because
of the need to pass an extra exam

- setting up an HF station, especially a good HF station, is not so easy today.
Apart from the economic aspect, setting up an antenna that the neighbours can
easily note is becoming here a real problem, due to the higher attention that
people generally pay to esthetic issues, as well as due to the exagerated
concerns on the effects of radio waves on human health.
