HF random wire antenna
 

Hi,

I have limited space for a HF antenna, so I built a random wire antenna.

The instructions I found (in Finnish):

I wound the balun and bought 20 m wire. Then, OH1NT, an older ham,
adviced me that 40 m wire would be better for 80 m band. So I hung up 40
meters of wire.

So far I have received good reports at least from European stations. I
look forward to DX QSO's.

This is normally what I do at a new QTH if I have the room. I try for at
least 40m of wire center-fed (though I can get by with about 30 if I'm
squeezed). And I just feed it with ladder line and a balanced tuner.

If it can be mounted as a sloper favouring a desired DX direction, so
much the better. Horizontal, it's good for NVIS on 160, 80 and 40.

If you run into OH8OS on the air, tell him hello from me. We used to QSO
on 15m a lot in 1965 when I was an operator at VE8ML.
