Zero power dissipation in the source resistor is prima
facie evidence of "total destructive interference" in
the direction of the source as described by Hecht on
page 388 of "Optics", 4th edition. You see, optical
physicists don't have the luxury of dealing with voltages
and currents. They are forced to deal with power densities
and those irradiance equations work just as well for RF
as they do for light. The power equation describing the
dissipation in the source resistor is:

Pfor + Pref - 2*SQRT(Pfor*Pref) = zero

which is in perfect agreement with your calculations.
