You may want to try replacing the whip with a longer one if you are going to
use it as a base station.

I had both. Stuck with the High Sierra. The Hi-Q is *such* a pain to
mount to anything.

And even better if you can extend the lower section (~2" diameter
tube). More metal=better, but more metal underneath the coil=mo'
better.
