Antenna Question

Hi All,

I am thing of putting up a loop antenna in my backyard. The diminsions are 34'
by 50' giving me a total loop of 168 feet. How will this antenna work on
80-10m if feed with 450 ladder line and about 10'-20' off the ground. On 80m I
am primarly interested in nvis, and on 20m-10m, dx.

I noticed the same thing with my 80M Full wave loop at the house.
Works great on 160 (with a tuner), 80, and 40, but distance seems to
drop off the higher in frequency I go. It's looped around four trees
(the supports) in the front yard, about 12 feet off the ground.

Should work well for NVIS but will be a disappointment on 20 and a
little less so on 15 and 10. Too close to the ground. For serious
DXing on 20 an antenna should be at about 70 feet or more, otherwise the
angle of radiation gets too high for the long-haul stuff. Would be ok
for one-hop, though, roughly out to 2500 miles or so.

Hi Randy, it should do a reasonable job. 20' high would be better than 10'.
30' would be better than 20' on 20m.
