Most AM broadcasters utilize asymmetrical modulation where they often
allow %115 positive peaks

In case you missed it, the 500 KW was in the 1930s. 250 KW of audio was not
easy to come by. Last I heard WLW was using a Harris 50 KW digital AM

.. Digital here means that the AM signal is digitally synthesized at high
level. There is no modulator.

In case you missed it, the 500 KW was in the 1930s. 250 KW of audio was
not easy to come by. Last I heard WLW was using a Harris 50 KW digital AM
transmitter. See

means that the AM signal is digitally synthesized at high level. There is
no modulator.

I grew up in the shadow of the WLW tower and not too far away Voice of
America antenna farm.

Thanks for reminding me of this great radio history in Cincinnati.
