ferrite antenna design...plz help
 
hi...
i am currently doin a project and am stuck at making a ferrite core
antenna with tuning circuit to detect a 457 khz RF wave.can aneone
help me in this regard...

I would use one out of an old AM broadcast radio. You just have to increase
the C a little.

Actually, a good idea, heck, tear apart two old am radios, use the cores
side-by-side, cut down on the turns and allow you to go lower ....

er, you mean add.


No, I meant what I said and said what I meant ...

Two cores will not require as many turns as one ... cut down on the
turns one core would require.

Two cores will not require as many turns as one ... cut down on the turns
one core would require.

Why bother doing this? The AM coil will tune to within 10% of the frequency
as is with about 400 PF. Add another 100 PF or so.

Because less conductor results in less conductor resistance and results
in a higher Q.

Well, there is also the "thing" about keeping the tuned circuit in the
range of presented impedance you wish ...

I have seen the lowfers use cores placed end to end, (sometimes
superglued and placed in a plastic tube), however, two cores laid side
by side with the turns surrounding both will, most likely, be suitable
here ...
