Can it be done? Sure.
Has it been done? I'm sure it probably has, I've just don't remember
hearing about it.
Would it work? Certainly much better than no antenna at all!
Would it be difficult to build? Just depends on the builder's
imagination and how 'handy' he/she is.
Would there be a commercial market? Probably a small one, with all
the characteristics of a small market.
Are there other ways of going about it? Sure, refer back to that
imagination and 'handy' thingy.
