Also, I'm looking at the GAP line, the Eagle in particular, for an
alternative for a condo. I'd appreciate any testimonials on performance.

Hi Nomen,

It works fine (as do the other in the GAP line) above the first,
lowest listed band (which by reports often reveals: poor).

Any comments on the new GAP antenna seen at:

Nomen, It's not exactly new, I saw my first one at Dayton 5 years ago. Since
then I have not talked to anyone that has actually bought one and put it on the
air. It should work about as well as the average mobile antenna on 20m up.
There are a lot less expensive ways to get a signal out.

Hello Richard and thanks for your reply. I'm a bit confused though when
you say, " above the first,

clarify?

Hi Nomen,

In the GAP line of vertical antennas (not speaking about this joke of
the Super C); each antenna performs poorly on its lowest operational
band. Otherwise, it works as well as the ad-hoc vertical tuned for
any of the higher bands. The Eagle DX (I have one) is not very
remarkable on 40M.

The larger models, reported here by others, exhibit equally poor
reports on their lowest operational band, and generally good marks for
the higher bands. It does well to elevate the antenna to obtain what
good qualities that are reported here. Mine is at 10 feet above
ground at the edge of a car port. It is unguyed and has survived some
very heavy wind (around 60MPH).

If you had a situation where your space is limited adn a
vertical seems to be the last option, do you have any other way you would
go?

I do have limited space. I use an attic antenna consisting of 100' zig-zag
doublet fed with 450 ohm ladder line and a homebrew tuner. I have ran 1200
watts pep on 80m and 40m with this antenna. Of course no one can watch TV or
talk on the phone, or do anything else that involves electronics in the house
while I am on the air.
I have a small 20' X 56' back yard. I have used a zig-zag doublet inverted
vee style with apex at 40' and had pretty good results on 80m-10m.
