Some users think they are doing those of us who are interested in antennas a
favor by posting what they think are useful topics - something "everyone
needs to know." Sometimes it is cellphone do not call lists. Other times
it is some PC virus, etc. etc. Usually it is bogus information that the
original poster was misled into believing, and ends up costing all of us
wasted time. There are tens of thousands of newsgroups where these topics
can be discussed.
When I enter rec.radio.amateur.antennas all I want to see is stuff about
antennas.
Hey Guys, I value my time so much that I measure it in milliseconds.
I constantly update my kill file with posters who aren't really interested
in antennas (Art), and subjects that have gotten so far off the topic of
antennas that they are also a waste of my milliseconds.

Yuri can stay. Roy Lewallen can stay. Richard Clark and Cecil can stay.
THOSE guys know antennas. The rest of you are on probation.

Some times its just plain old spam, or postings from the fringe elements
of the newsgroups.

When I enter rec.radio.amateur.antennas all I want to see is stuff about
antennas.

That would be cool wouldn't it? Isn't going to happen.

Maybe you could start a yahoo or google group, moderate it, and no
posts other than what you want to see will show up.

I feel pretty unimportant now, My time management dictates only goes to
increments of 500 milliseconds. ;^)

But seriously, that is what killfiles or filters are for. Don't want to
see someone, and at least in my software, I push "k", and its TTFN!

Yuri can stay. Roy Lewallen can stay. Richard Clark and Cecil can stay.

Why do people come into groups, and set themselves up as the cops? Who
are you to determine who stays and who is on "probation". When people
write stuff such as this, they have an implicit sense of entitlement, as
if Roy, Richard, and Cecil owe you edification. They don't. You really
need your own group, and you can invite the chosen few, and you can
disallow any posts you determine to be off topic. Don't be surprised if
they don't show up though.

For that matter, will you allow posts by Cecil when he goes off on a
cosmology tangent (often with me along) or Richard when he treats us to
one of his amusing forays?

I'd be pleased to be in your plonkfile. Note, I post from two separate
accounts, so you'll have to do two filters so that I don't pollute your
screen.

Hey, if it weren't for the cosmos, antennas wouldn't work.

It would be interesting to find a tangent point for the cosmos but
that would involve going off on a 4 dimensional cosmological tangent.

You apparently think you're doing "those of us" a favor
by not only speaking for "us" but deciding, unilaterally,
what YOU feel is "worthy" of posting to "your" group.

Thanks for your post, which had zero to do with antennas.
Which, by definition, makes your post "unworthy".
