Default new low bander - used equipment suggestions

I've been in HAM hibernation for the past 20 yrs or so.
Last time I was on the low bands
was with a HT-40 + HQ-110 or TR4 -

If I wanted to look for a small used inexpensive low band rig
that could be used at home, in the car,
or with AC/12V power on Boy Scout campouts
any suggestions......
My challenge would be not having a great antenna...
just something tossed up at a Boy Scout outing
so my concern is antenna matching a hunk of wire

You might want to take a look at the Kenwood TS50 for HF only use. Seems
like a rugged little radio, and I think it has been around for a while.
Check out the user reports at . http://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/411
Also, when you get it narrowed down, try to download user manuals from the
manufacturer's sites.
