Compact VHF fox hunting antenna
 
Is anyone aware of a small directional antenna that is useful for direction
finding at VHF? My understanding is that Doppler antennas work only while
moving (true?) and what I need is a directional antenna that can be used
while at rest. Low efficiency and relatively broad main lobe are OK as long
as physical size is small.

You can find a Moxon at this site, as well as a ton of other great

Have a look at the HB9CV designs. The physical size is quite small and
mechanical construction is not difficult. I have a commercial one for
70cm at it works well and is small and easy to work with.
