Lattin antenna patent info/query
 

William J. Lattin was awarded patent # 2,535,298 on Dec 26, 1950.
This was a patent for the recently discussed "Lattin Antenna".

I have a photocopy of that patent in my possession.

However, when I go to the website of the US Patent Office, I'm not
computer geeky enough to be able to wade thru the extraneous
government fluff and see his patent.

Looking up other patents, I know that they do not have all patents
before a certain date actually online in text form.

The older method was to go to either the main Patent office in DC, or
one of the 10 repositories in certain city libraries around the
country, where they have hard copies or microfiche of the older
patents, (now combined with access to the online resources). For
example, for New England, they are at the Boston Public Library's main
branch in Copley Square.

I looked up that one in a patent number search, and they do not have
it in text form, only in image form. I saw the 4 pages. They are in
some QuickTime readable format, so check that you have the free
software installed. To print you need to install very specific
software detailed in their FAQ.

Hi Lee,

Yup, as Gary suggests, it requires a patent number search. Inventor
names and other sorts do not work because patents before 1976 are
stored as images.

As I reported elsewhere, the patent and the web available rendition
are two very different tunes.
