Antenna wire proximity
I have an existing OCF 80m dipole already set up between two
trees (actually the socalled Carolina Windom from Radio Works). I was planning to add a 540' sky wire (square) loop to the farm. One leg of the loop would run approx. parallel to the OCF 15-20+' away. I was not planning to use more than one antenna at a time of course, but wondered if the presence of a "nearby" wire might effect the operation of the (at the time) operating antenna. A nearby wire is another metallic object in the vacinity, what significant effect would this have, if any? Bill K6TAJ |
Bill,
The proximity will distort the radiation pattern of the antenna in use, slightly. If the loops is used on 80 meters, the OCF antenna will 'rob' a little signal, and visa-versa. I don't know if I'd call it significant, though, probably not... 'Doc |
