R-7000 in the rain
Hi,
When it rains the ROS of my Cushcraft R7000 rises (10:1) on all bands. It is about 1.5:1 when dry. Has anyone an idea? TNX in advance. 73's Daniel, FY1FV |
I don't own a R7000 but there are many user reviews of this particular
antenna on www.eham.com. It appears from the reviews that the traps may be the problem. Possibly, water is getting into one or more of the traps. Al "Daniel_FY1FV" wrote in message ... Check the seals on the box at the counterpoise "radials". You might be
getting leakage into the works in there. Good luck, Bill, W4WNT "Daniel_FY1FV" wrote in message ... Hi, When it rains the ROS of my Cushcraft R7000 rises (10:1) on all bands. It is about 1.5:1 when dry. Has anyone an idea? TNX in advance. 73's Daniel, FY1FV |
I took apart this one carefully: many many corrosion around screws top and
bottom. I have cleaned up all the junctions carefully with my Dremel and sealed around the cover with silicone gum. (NOT the hole around the SO239 plug!) I'm standing by the next big rain!
