"g g", Sure. The aluminum used for the shield isn't easy to solder to, but 'TV' coax should work okay. 'Doc |

Yes, you can use 5 ohm tv coax but you will be better off using 50 ohm rg 8 or rg 58 cable as the output circuit of your radio is optimized for the 50 ohm cable. There is aloss of power in the mismatched cable. Not much but it is there. If you must use 75 ohm cable then investigate using a matching section of 50 ohm cable. Dave WD9BDZ |

i should came here in the first place the folks in the cb group
said tv coax will cause damage to my radio ,thanks 73s |

yep, you can use it.

Your First problem is that you went to a CB group to ask that kind of
question. What were you thinking? You will have to match the antenna to bring the feed down to 50 ohms. With a properly matched antenna you should get the full 4 watt legal limit on 11 meters. Note too the dipole will need to be slightly shorter to use on 10m than on
11m, but you probably knew that already. "HaveHFWillTravel" wrote in message ... Your First problem is that you went to a CB group to ask that kind of question. What were you thinking? There are addapters for F plug to PL259. I can hear it now, "oh my god, you
will loose at least a milionth of a watt if you use an adapter. That is totaly unacceptable". "Bob Miller" wrote in message ... The connectors they used to attach to a tv input won't fit your transceiver. Bob k5qwg |
Probably the same one he uses on 20.

I connect to rg6 usinf an F to TNC adapter and then use a TNC to N adapter

Only problem I see is the foil inner shield in tv coax might be trickier to solder to a standard pl-259 plug that you will screw onto your transceiver. The connectors they used to attach to a tv input won't fit your transceiver. Bob k5qwg |
Cut it for a multiple of 1/2 wavelengths.... Use type "f" connectors
and adaptors to uhf or whatever you want to use.... When the transmission line is cut for a multiple of 1/2 wavelength for a particular frequency, you can put 100 ohms at one end and it will see the exact impedance at the other end.... I use it on a 40/20 meter cross dipole and it works great and has very low loss... walter g g wrote: i wont to build a dipole ant for 10 meters can i use tv coax .or do i need to use rg.58 |
