I just got this radio last night. It's supposed to have a built in
mic. How can I test the mic? What button do i push?
I already read the online manuals for it but it doesn't even tell you
how to do the most simplest things.

thanks

Do you have a proper license to operate the radio?

And, Yes it does have an internal microphone. It should not need any
testing.

I have this radio. The manual is quite complete and gives detailed operating
instructions. Your message raises doubts about whether you actually have a
license. If not, I suggest you forget abut using that radio. Unlicensed
operation carries stiff penalties.

Manual for this radio is very good but it is not a troubleshooting guide.
What did you say your call was .

Welcome to the ARS, Rafael! Congrats on getting your license. Have you
joined a club yet? This will be a big step in evaluating your equipment.
Depending on the local repeaters, Some may have a feature where after
punching in a particular key sequence on your HT, the repeater will
record and transmit your signal back to you. That is a really valuable
thing.

In the interim between your first post and now, did you ascertain that
the audio is low?

One of the first things you want to do is check to see if it is the
internal mic, or if it is a gain problem. Buy or borrow an external mic
that will work with the unit, then try that. Problem cured? It is the
mic. No? then it is probably a gain or other problem.

Hope this helps.

many manuals for radios:

If this htx 202 is typical, an external mic will be much worse.
