Mic question (sort of)

Question about the HTX 100 mic , jarred my (admittedly), slow to think-about the Motorola (and other commercial radio manufacturer's 450, and 800 MHz
portable radio microphones, with self contained "ANTENNAS" in the cords . 1) can these be accurately modeled, or are too many variables involved (length of mic cord, angle of mic cord, how much streched out, proximity to the body (capacatance))? and, 2 (yes, realize that this is something MUCH less than optimum, but just from curiousosity, how do these compair with a (YUCK) "Rubber Duckie" ?? In other words, would this work with a repeater several miles away? or only limited to the mobile "repeaters" (trunk mounted in say a squad car)? Just curious? Jim NN7K

The problem is the same as for an HT -- your body is just as much a part
of the antenna as the "antenna". If you can figure out how to make a
good model of your body, you can model it. I'm sure someone, somwhere,
has done some work on this but I don't know how good the results might
have been.

I haven't really modelled my body however I have come to realize that
it is becoming very broadband at the bottom end! :-)
