4NEC2 and ARRL Antenna Modelling Course

I will be taking the ARRL course

http://www.arrl.org/cce/courses.html#ec004

starting Oct. 1, 2004.

The course outline mentions the use of EZNEC 3.0 or NEC-Win or "or that
you are willing to adapt the ideas that we shall explore to the package
available to you."

Has anyone taken this course using 4NEC2 by Arie?

Is it reasonable to take this course using software other than that
recommended?

Thanks.

Thomas

If you can master the basic use of 4nec2 I don't think you'll have any
trouble translating the exercises in the course to Arie's excellent
program. I enjoyed using 4nec2 with the course, but a friend who is not
as computer savvy had a hard time learning 4nec2 and finally gave up and
purchased EZNEC.

Yes, some have, and (already some time ago) one of them send me the
course manual to thank me for making 4nec2 available, so I was able to
check 4nec2 against the lessons included in the course.

Furthermore I somehow got a copy of all the example files in nec
format. For as far as I know (from my memory) all examples did work
without problems using 4nec2.

I am not quite sure, but maybe it's also possible to use the EZnec
demo which is for free. If you like it you can then still decide to
puchase the full EZnec version.

Success,
Arie.
