High Sierra SIdeKick Coil Cover

Helllo,

Does anyone know where I can purchase a replacement coil cover for a High
Sierra Sidekick mobile antenna?

2" PVC from the box store is heavy, and not the correct fit. Looks like
High Sierra is out of business.

Efhw 8010 vs 10 or 15 meter dipole

https://forums.qrz.com/index.php?thr...dipole.574889/

Hi there all, just a question my antenna is a efhw 8010 about 14ft high
sloping down to about 6ft low end. This does 80 to 10 meters, I was always
told nothing beats a half wave dipole unless its a beam I guess. Just as a
experiment for about $20 would a 10 or 15 meter dipole outperform the
efhw8010 on those same bands at the same height at 5 watts qrp or is it too
close to call and dont waste $20 or more? I just thought when one of those
bands is really open why not try to work dx on just...

Wire Mesh Attic Ground Plane with Wire & AH-4 Tuner

Posted: 03 Sep 2017 06:06 PM PDT

Im in a restricted neighborhood and considering a wire antenna in the attic
of a 2-story home to operate barefoot on the HF bands of 80M - 10M.

The antenna would be a 23 length of #12 stranded, insulated wire located in
the attic. The vertical portion of the wire will go up about 10 to the peak
of the roof, then turn 90 degrees and run horizontally along the peak for
the remaining distance. It will be tuned by an Icom AH-4 antenna tuner at
the base of the wire, fed with about 80 of...

Built-in 11m antenna - tuner for 2m/440

Posted: 03 Sep 2017 05:54 PM PDT

Greetings! What happens at my job, is I drive commercial trucks that has a
cb antenna built in. Im not always in the same truck day to day. Even
during mid-day, I may have to swap trucks.

What Id like is some advice on using an autotuner that can match the 11m
antenna to 2m/440 so I can plug in and go.

A mag mount on top of the cab isnt much of an option because the top of the
cab isnt as high as the fiber glass cargo box behind me.

These are 36 to 42 ft freightliner and kenworth...

An unexpected but pleasant suprise!

Gday all, yesterday evening mostly for a quick test I put up a simple wire
antenna for 20 m essentially for a quick test and was stunned to find that
it performed much better than expected. That is always pleasant when that
happens! Regards, Felix vk4fuq.

Flag pole as wire antenna mast

I cant seem to find any answers to this question in many searches (probably
isnt one). I have a 130 end fed antenna that is working well for me. I
have one end attached to the house and the other end to a telescopic
fiberglass mast, attached to a chain link fence. Its only up about 25, but
again, works well for me in my current situation. I cannot guy the mast,
so as you can imagine it does flex at the top. Wife doesnt like the looks
so I am looking for another solution (I have no...

FT-857D + MFJ-998RT: too much foldback, not enough power to tune

Posted: 03 Sep 2017 02:35 PM PDT
https://forums.qrz.com/index.php?thr...o-tune.580065/

MFJ-998RT is a remote tuner. It is RF sensing and needs 5-20W to initiate
the tuning process (for some frequencies, it requires almost 20W).

FT-857D has a very quick power foldback when SWR is too high. As a result,
the output power is usually limited to about 10W.

The problem? With the two paired together, the rig wont output enough power
(at high SWR) for the tuner to wakeup and start the tuning process.
Recycling power to the tuner doesnt help. I am investigating if a specific
tuning...
