A picture is worth a thousand words. Were there any color bands on the boom? Here is Mosley's web site: http://www.mosley-electronics.com/amateur.htm TA-33 series http://www.mosley-electronics.com/nshfmulti.htm Here is a Classic 33 manual http://wb0nni.dakotamade.com/cl33_1.jpg http://wb0nni.dakotamade.com/cl33_2.jpg |

Mosley antennas that I have seen put two traps in one housing; so, it looks like there is only one trap per element side unlike the HyGain and Cushcraft that have two. Offhand, I can't think of a Hygain 4 element antenna with traps. I don't know if www.cushcraft.com still exists. You can get to the Hygain stuff from the MFJ site. Tam/WB2TT |

You are going to have to look very carefully at construction details to determine brand, and then at various differences
due to age to identify the specific model. Then go to the URLs listed for drawings. Just yesterday I was asked to sort out a 6 element antenna, which turned out to be a HyGain TH6DXX with several TH7DX repair parts. The original TH6 boom to mast hardware was notoriously weak, and was often replaced with the later, stronger TH7 assembly, but the documentation on that modification is very obscure on the 'net, so the relatively inexperienced (re-) assembler was in a quandary about the model, and consequently the dimensions. In spite of other misinformation you have been provided, HyGain built a 4 element trapped antenna, the TH-4, sold in several versions between about 1956 and 197?. See another posting 11/09/04 on this ng asking about one. -- Crazy George Remove N O and S P A M imbedded in return address "carl wesser" wrote in message ... I have 1962 and 1964 ham catlogs, the TH4 is in the 62 (no picture), but not in the 64. By 1964 the TH5 was out. That is not to say they were all sold by 64. I should have mentioned the Explorer 14, which they call a 4 element antenna, but to the casual observer looks like it has 6 elements. BTW, Hygain no longer comes up on the MFJ web site. Anybody know if they sold it? Tam/WB2TT |

I wish to thank ALL....I will go back and look @ the elements and try to
decipher what it is...2 of the trapped elements are exactly the same length and look identical...........NO color coding.............it has the square horizontal "wire"connectors between the elements..I only see 3 clamp points for the elements to the boom....., But the owner said all 4 were attached when he took it down,,,,,,,,,,,,each element is fully assembled ,,,,,,,,, the elements have a sweged size reducer near the tips......some of the traps are about 3 inches in diameter, some are about 1 1/2 " diam.. it approaches looking like the TA33mu arc the search contionues, carl thank you ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff ffffffffffff "All that is Required for Evil to Succeed is for Good Men to DO NOTHING" |

Unfortunately, the manuals/documentation for early or short lived Hy-Gain antenna models are not in the possession of MFJ/Hy-Gain. These were likely lost in earlier ownership changes or accidentally thrown out through the years. This is not a problem unique to MFJ/Hy-Gain. Bencher had a similar problem with early documentation after its acquisition of Butternut antenna line from the previous owner. Cushcraft does not have manuals for some of its very early vertical and beam designs (short lived). The owners of these antennas could perform a service to the amateur fraternity and send copies (or PDF scans) of their documentation to the current owners, with the stipulation that it be posted for all. gb |

Used to be able to. If you type in Ameritron or Mirage, they come up with several choices. Hygain and Hy-gain give you no match. I did finally get it to work by searching on "rotator", and then clicking on 6 meter beam. This shows Hygain at the top of the page together with Ameritron, Vectronics, Mirage, and MFJ ( I am not claiming this makes sense). If you click on "antennas", you only get the MFJ. Tam/WB2TT |

Are you saying there are two driven elements? Tam/WB2TT |

Tam/WB2TT Tam - Yes, I noticed this a few months ago. I also noticed the problem with Ameritron amplifiers at one point - but this may have been changed. w9gb |
