2 Meter Wire Antenna
Just checking to see if anyone has built a 2 meter antenna for base satation
use out of #14 copper antenna wire and fed with 50 ohm coax. If so, describe how you made it and how it performs. Stephen Saunders, KD6EUT |
I owned a 2 meter dipole made from 1/2" copper pipe. Worked great - and
talk about bandwidth. -- 73 es cul wb3fup a Salty Bear "'Doc" wrote in message ... Stephen, I've made several 2 meter dipoles, they worked just fine since the repeater wasn't that far from me. Could hit one or two 80-90 miles away. Also used a 38-39 wave length doublet (80 meter dipole), it worked just fine too. 'Doc |

Stephen Saunders, KD6EUT I didn't use copper, but I have a pair of TV rabbit ears that adjust 180 degrees apart. I replaced the 75 ohm coax with 50 ohm, extended the ears to 19 3/8" on each side and hung it vertically in a first floor window. With 5 watts I can hit all of the repeaters and digipeaters I can hear, which covers about a 30 mile radius. The best part is that it folds up and packs in a suitcase very easily. When I get out of this antenna restricted neighborhood, I want to put a J-Pole up about 30 feet, but until then, this is working.
