Last year, I installed an El Dorado here at my house in Largo, Florida when I
came down for the winter. It's at 14' and I replaced the 8 somewhat flimsy
radials with sixteen of 12 ga. wire. I use a Kenwood TS-50s with fixed outputs
of 10, 50 and 100 watts and it seems to work well for the type of antenna that
it is, even on the 10 watt setting. When conditions are good, I get a 5/9
almost anywhere in the States with 100 watts. I think that the antenna is a
bit expensive but thus far I've been satisfied with its performance.
