Hi Ken, was wondering which model would suit my application, I wish to
Remote the tuner 100ft from Transmitter, in a shed, and then 6mtrs to my
Ground Mounted verticle fed with coax, the verticle is a BUTTERNUT HF2V
which is resonant on 3 freqs 1.845/3.650/7.100 Mhz, and I would want
coverage say 30/20/17/15 Mtrs and maybe a few RFDS at 5MHZ and 8 Mhz, to get
the MAX use out of the beast, can i remote mount the AT-11MP in the shed and
use it in AUTO MODE, would that work ok, or should i go for the RT-11 and
still mount it in the shed and feed antenna 6 mtrs away with coax and then
have the REMOTE HEAD control unit for the RT-11. for when i want to take it
mobile ??
or do i have to mount RT-11 right at base of antenna ?? in that case the
AT-11MP would be no good to me, I was looking at trying to be able to
uncouple 2 coax feeds and take tuner travelling or camping hence the shed
mount, I would appreciate any comments I spoke to Dwayne but we never got to
discussing the AT-11MP

Kind Regards

Sorry, Dennis. I misread or misunderstood the Subject. I have the RT-11 and don't know anything
about the AT-11MP. I have considered mounting the RT-11 outside and controlling it remotely.
Should avoid a little bit of loss in the co-ax on some bands, but I would probably need to use some
form of Balun or RF Choke. Also I might run into untunable impedances on one or more bands closer
to the antenna. Who knows without measurement? Good Luck and 73. -ken-

The RT-11 can be remotely located up to 100 ft. away. I was able to
test this out with my Icom IC-706MKIIG and some CAT5 cable.

All tuners work best when they're mounted near the base of the antenna
to be tuned. It's better to tune the antenna alone, not the antenna
and feedline!
