WHAT IS ARMAD ?

ARMAD is an annual Amateur Radio Special Event project that stands for
Amateur Radio Military Appreciation Day. We work with National Military
Appreciation Month during the month of May. Amateur Radio Operators from
around the world team up during this joint effort to allow the people from
our communities to gather at public locations such as shopping centers,
parks, VA hospitals, and sporting events to express verbal positive support
"LIVE" over the radio for members of the Military, Veterans, Reserves,
National Guard, and military support groups. It is also a chance for those
at each location to hear and exchange messages of appreciation with each
other over the radio. Many of us have friends, relatives, and neighbors that
are active duty, and past members of the armed forces. ARMAD gives us the
chance to support one another, and to express our thanks and appreciation to
those that sacrifice and serve in the Armed Forces.

Another war-mongering organisation?

Old Ed March 21st 05 02:47 AM

Hi Reg... still a nut case, I see.

It's too bad we can't exempt you from the benefits that have been
brought about by our military's sacrifices--yours and ours!

If it weren't for the Brits, we would all be speaking Dutch. Or
French. Or Spanish.

Or we wouldn't have come to America in the first place to get away
from those folks telling us how to live. Take a lessson.

Was that a stereotypical racist allusion? More likely poor spelling
than a lame joke.

Sorry Old Son, by your signature it is obvious you have more than
something wrong there in Garden Grove. Perhaps you haven't immigrated
far west enough.

the ever-growing pot of cybersoup:

At least Dutch has consistent spelling and pronunciation: once you know
the rules, you know how to pronounce anything you see. Not like English,
which has no rules at all: think of "cough," "rough," "through,"
"although," etc.

John Smith May 25th 05 01:35 AM

.... you are quite correct, our language is an "art" not a science--it does
not obey laws of logic or consistency, like math does... we only speak it
for historical reasons... grin

Warmest regards,
John
