WARC Bands Dipole
 

hello all,

i have a question reference WARC bands dipoles. will using a common
feed line be a problem? nothing fancy, just a three band dipole (6
elements, 3 each side) using a common feed line and supports.

just wanting to see if someone has already tried it and what their
results were. any info will be appreciated.

p.s. i already have multi band antennas which can be tuned to the above
bands. i just wanted to experiment with dipoles cut for resonance.

I haven't actually tried it, but I haven't heard anything to indicate
a problem unless they are in beam formation in which one band becomes
a reflector in a higher band pending the spacing.

I would suggest spacing the elements 8 inches apart. That spacing
seems to make things work better than a closer spacing if the
antennas are parallel.

Hi:

That's called a "fan" dipole and it will work. A tip on tuning it up though,
start with the lowest frequency antenna elements first and work your way up.
There is ALOT of interaction between the elements in a fan dipole and the
higher frequency ones are affected the most. If you put the elements at
right angles to each other or as far apart as you can the interaction will
be minimized. Because of the interaction between the elements the SWR
bandwidth will be different than a single band dipole would be mostly less.
