yagi boom question
Hello,
I've built several yagis until now (most of them based on the famous DL6 design). Almost all of them are of the not-insulated elements variant, the last one is instead of the insulated through the boom type. It's a 9 element for 144 MHz and it gave me good results. No part of the boom is in electrical contact with anything else but the support pole, the radiator is a folded dipole with 4:1 coaxial balun. Now I'd like to understand if it would be better to connect the boom to the coaxial screen or to the center of the folded dipole or leave it completely insulated (and also why it is so...). Another question: has anyone calculated elements' corrections for not circular booms (square section or rectangular section)? Thanks and best 73 Francesco IS0FKQ (ex IZ5DWF) |
