What Brand would you recommend and why?
Brands include:

Quickstick from Quicksilver Radio
Lakeview
MFJ
Valor/Proam

Any real world experiences with any of the above antenna's.

The "hamstick" would be used for a NVIS ARES emergency dipole on 75m
and 40m. And yes, I know about the bandwith and effeciency. This
would be a temp, portable, emergency antenna.

I forgot to include ATOC/Ironhorse, both regular and mini size.

Have used Iron Horse and a couple of others (can't remember which right off
hand) and give or take a bit they all worked about the same. Saw no real
difference. They worked as expected and under the circumstances so no
complaints on any of them.

I like the Iron Horse antennas for mobile work because it is easy to
break them down for storage. You can leave the whip portion set to the
proper length since it's held in place by a set screw in an easily
removable fitting (just requires fingers or pliers). The Hamsticks work
well, but to break them down you need to loosen the setscrew with a
greater chance of losing it and the necessity to reset the length when
you re-assemble the Antenna.

section that holds the stinger. I don't remember what
brands that is but they have two 3/8"x24 connectors,
one on each end of the fiberglas section. For instance,

I am using Antenna Specialists antennas on my car. They have the
connector where the stinger plugs in. I can also add another
fiberglass whip on there if I prefer due to the common connector.

Is that the one of which you are speaking?

The manufacturer's label is long gone and lost. I simply don't remember
what manufacturer I ordered it from - somewhere in North or South
Carloina, if I remember correctly, but it wasn't Lakeview.

I have a Valor 40m and a Lakeview 20m. The 40m didn't tune up without a
base loading coil, but worked great with it. Also worth noting is that
my Lakeview flew off the back of my van at 70mph when my magnet mount
-came unglued-.. The magnet stayed on the roof while the chrome housing
and antenna took flight. I dragged it for a few hundred yards, and it's
not as pretty now, but still works fine.

What Brand would you recommend and why?

I use the Iron Horse. Ive used the Hustlers and the Pro-Ams before.
And for me on my installtions the Iron Horse have proven to be the
widest bandwidth and best signal peformance out there. I dunno why. I
put them on the bed with a stake mount. Ive always been asked if Im
running a screwdriver. When I was county hunting Ive many good comments
as a mobile about my signal.

They work for me and I wouldnt have any other brand.

(no I dont work for them, Im just a very satisfied customer)

Hi Randy, as you know Hamsticks are dogs above 20m. If you are
planning on using them in a dipole configuration on 75m, get the most
sturdy. For NVIS ARES emergency dipole on 75M, from my experience
other configurations will work much better. Field day experience.
