Stacking Big Wheel Antennas ?
 
Looking for some INFO on how to Stack Big Wheel Antennas ?

Operating Frequencies TX-421.250 to RX-439.250 ATV repeater.



Would like to feed 4 antenns with equal lengths of coax from one of the
Power Splitters if possible.

I thing the stacking distance is around 16 inches.

And There is something about right hand circular and left hand circular For
proper phasing.

That would be right hand horizontal and left hand horizontal, actually.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Should be about .43 meters per SSB electronics. I have also read .8
wavelengths, so roughly .56 meters in that case. Personally I would go
with the larger of the two.

And mount all antennas with the feed in the same clock position, feed
all in the same phase from the power divider.

I don't know if my stacked big wheels on 2 are any guide, but here is my
layout.

The 4 Antennas are spaced 48" apart. The 50 ohm coax goes to a center
mounted point.
Two coaxes come from the center point, the first to the center of the bottom
pair. The second
to the center of the top pair. Each antenna is fed from the centerpoint of
its pair.
My big wheels seem to have a very broad bandwidth, with low swr across all
of 2 meters.

Thus 16 inches sounds about right.

Ok Ed sounds like you antennas are feed with a phasing harness . Here is
where I saw this type of antenna setup advertised using a Power Splitter
using equal length of cable, I thought this would be simpler But this
article said some thing about phasing the antenna and naturally the author

Interesting. I seem to remember that one of the earlier (ARRL?) handbooks
had an
article on big wheels and how to adjust the phasing. My antenna is from the
70's and I
recently replaced all its coax. It was the Cuschcraft model and not as well
done as I would like.
It does work though.

Perhaps one of the old timer antenna experts would have a reference for the
phasing information.
Or could you simulate it with NEC?
