HELP: Will a TH3-JR HF beam load on 17m?
I'm butting up a new tower and I'm deciding between the Hy-Gain TH3JR and
the Butternut HF5B. My tower is 10' from the lot line, so I'm trying to minimize overhang above the neighbors house. I can park the beam when not in use, so even if the turning radius is greater than 12', as long as the 1/2 the boom length is less than 11', I would not be 'parked' over his home. So, the butternut and the hygain are both smaller antennae, but I would like to have the WARC bands as well as the typical 20-15-10 combo. Anyone have some thoughts on this? PLEASE REPLY HERE. (as the spam is simply too much.) Thanks! Pat, VE3PMK |
How bout the tennadyne log periodic? I believe they have a 5 or 6 element
version that's not too big. I had a force 12 c3 up for a bit, it was a pretty large antenna but it worked 10-20 and the tuner in me rig even tuned it up on 40 although it didnt work good on 40. They now make the c3 in a short version which isnt much off the performance of the regular c3, which is probably similar to a 2 element yagi on 20 and 3 elements on 10 and 15..Good luck. I have the T6 and I like it very much. It meets all the specifications and
works very well for me. If I was to do it over again, I would get the next bigger one as the SWR curves are a bit lower and the beam width a bit sharper. But the T6 will beat the beans out of any small tribander in all ways except front to back. Be aware that the minimum height is 40' with something around 65' optimal. Also Tennadyne almost always have them in stock for rapid shipment unlike other companies that can make you wait weeks or more for them to ship. So for one more not very meaningful testimonial, I've worked 276 countries in 2 years, with 100+ countries on 20, 15, 10m and I'm waiting (hoping) for cards on 17 and 12m. -- John Passaneau, W3JXP Penn State University "Desmoface" wrote in message ...
