Christopher:
Excuse my humor in my previous post. Roger beeps are considered VERY bad behavior when used on ham bands. Indeed, the only place I have ever seen them used is by truck drivers on the CB band. They shortly grow annoying... I would suggest against their use, but if you really have to have one, ask on rec.radio.cb they will be able to provide you with a source, I am sure... It should be built into your Motorola, too. Just what kind of a bleep are you looking for? Talk about picky :-( bob k5qwg |

Roger beeps are actually used a lot on VHF SSB here in EU, and they nicely show what an inefficient mode SSB is. Hardly a VHF contest goes by, when I do NOT hear a station in SSB calling me, where everything I can clearly copy is the rogerbeep ;) 73 & CW4ever, -- Fabian Kurz, DJ1YFK * Dresden, Germany * http://fkurz.net/ |

Hi,
I run a security buisness radio system. The majority of their radios are VHF Motorola Brands. The thing is that all of the current installed ones have a simultaneously multi tone bleep. In other words a number of beeps in one bleep.I know its confusing. Chris Contact a Motorola dealer? Considering how proprietary their radio designs are, you probably need to talk to them to get what you are looking for. Bob k5qwg "Bob Miller" wrote in message .. . They didn't identify and they didn't use personal names, they just chatted at each other about anything and everything. Every time one of 'em dropped the mic button there was a sharp "click" instead of a traditional roger beep. I listened for maybe 15 minutes and decided I'd wandered into some freebanders and dialed the FCC monitoring facility in Laural. The FCC op tuned the freq while we were still connected. After he listened for a few seconds he told me "That's a U.S. Navy Atlantic Fleet shore station net, they babble for hours somewhere around that frequency every night." Oops. click. -- CL -- I doubt, therefore I might be ! w3rv |
