Microwave oven magnetron

I once looked at a microwave oven on a spectrum analyzer (Loosely coupled
near the door seal). The signal was spread over 100s of MHz. It also
appeared to be pulsed. The spectrum, however, did not look like the
expected Sa(x) distribution. Magnetrons are not noted for their stability,
and are
probably not suitable for CW. I have played with tunable 500 mW klystrons,
and they can drift 10s of MHz (at 12 GHz), in a very short period of time.

Frank

PS I often post responses, and never see them. That is why I started a new
thread. Anybody else get the same problem?

.... well, sounds like a great jamming device for when the sw stations go
GHz...

How long do you wait -- your response is there just fine.

Obviously not long enough. Usually when I post the message it is there
instantly. In some recent posts they have never appeared, even days after.
This last one took a couple of hours.

Thanks,

Frank

Must be all those people out there with microwave ovens and Pringles
cans...

Competition for this year's Darwin Awards is going to be so hot, they're
trying to kill themselves two ways at once.

That's right - use those magnetrons - the cell phones are too slow.
Folks actually hold them right next to their ear and transmit.
