Bet it won't, unless your only interested in 1 channel or are in an area of
vary strong signals where it dosn't matter what you use.

The BUX Communications Company is a really good company to work with.
They will tell you what you can or cannot accomplish. They have in the
site listed below instructions on building J-Poles, a single horizontal
beam, then just a plain jain omnidirectional vertical plane antenna and
other wire antennas.

Go to it!!!

Let me know what you end up doing. thecowboyace at yahoo.com

Also ......
Go to http://www.packetradio.com/antennaHandbook.htm and then -
Do a Ctrl-F for 146.5MHz; TV Twin-Lead J-Pole for a real quickie. Now
this is for 146.5MHz so you'll need to get your calculator out to
figure out what it will be for 6 meter work

Might not do even that good- try to sweep the frequency with a
antenna modeling program, (atleast for an analog station)! Doubt
it would have the requesit 6 mHz bandwidth with this antenna!!

I wish that I could really interpret the antenna modeling programs. I
just can't seem, at the present, to get a fundamental grip on it. It
will come.

Might try giving us operating parameters.

Are u going to operate repeaters only or skip or both?
For repeaters and mobiles, you'll want vertical polarization. (Cross
polarization can be 12dB or more)

20+db...not 12! 20db=100:1 power ratio....

For skip, either vertical or horizontal will do.

Sometimes....depends on the conditions

I can't put up a Yagi, so I use a Cushcraft AR-6 Ringo, 1/2 wave vertical
Your results may vary.

Nowadays, a PAR or KB6KQ is best.....when the band is not open, you want to
use horizontal pol for best "local" coverage...out to 200+ miles or so

check

A commercial version of this antenna (6m moxon) is available. I put one up
last year and am VERY pleased with it. You can find it in the AES catalog
(Amateur Electronic Supply). I forget who offers it, but it is something
like 79 bucks, if you have neither the time nor the inclination to build
one.
